Benadryl (diphenhydramine) allergy: Kind of rare, but present, can try other OTC antihistamines as cetirizine, loratadine or fexofenadine, might still get sedated but to a lesser extent than diphenhydramine (benadryl) so be careful when you drive or operate machinery
