Side effects Flagyl: It depends on which side effects you are asking about. It can cause metallic taste, antabuse (disulfiram) type nausea and vomiting with alcohol use, gastrointestinal complaints, but the most lasting and serious are the potentially permanent peripheral neuropathy with high dose prolonged use. MRI brain changes in that case are reversible.
