1-2h: Usually you can be discharged from the hospital within 1-2 hours after an uneventful colonoscopy performed under sedation. The nurse will want you to wake up, pass gas, and tolerate some sips of fluids before discharge.

Short stay: Usually no more than a few hours. As soon as you are awake and alert, and can get out of the bed, you can leave provided you have someone who can drive you home as you may not be fully alert due to sedation used for the procedure.
