Start with simple : Hydrocortisone cream if not successful get a prescription for cordran tape. If that does not work, try kenalog (triamcinolone) injections good luck.

No easy answer: Hypertrophic scarring involves a thickened scar that remains within the borders of the injury, unlike a keloid, which extends beyond the original margin. Because hypertrophic scars form earlier during wound maturation (w/in weeks), they will often itch more during that healing phase. The itching will likely resolve as the scar matures, but may take a few months.
