Dr. KT Park answered

Glycerin vs enema: If you are experiencing acute constipation or fecal impaction, home glycerin suppository is a good first step. You may also consider a fleets enema or a mineral oil enema as second line. If these are not working, a visit to your md or an er may be necessary for further management. General recommendation is to focus on prevention by plenty of fluids and high-fiber diet on a day to day basis.
