See your doctor: A women's cycle usually consist of a consecutive number of days for withdrawal bleeding. There can be several things that can affect your cycle. If you are taking birth control, make sure that you are taking it correctly. If this pattern persists, see your doctor to rule out causes, such as pregnancy, infection, and medication side effects.

Hormones off: Having an irregular cycle, in which the bleeding starts, stops and restarts, sounds like something was off in the hormones this cycle. If cycles are usually regular, it will likely go back to normal next cycle. Cycles can be off due to stress, thyroid issues, weight gain or loss, or possible pregnancy.
