Nobody's perfect: and neither are your menstrual cycles. The hormones that control your menstrual cycle can be off kilter from time to time and can cause irregular bleeding. If the spotting persists beyond one cycle or if bleeding becomes heavy, you should get a check up. If you miss your next period and there's any chance of pregnancy, a home pregnancy test is in order.
