Heavy period: It is very common for late periods to be very heavy. The lining of the uterus can build up quite a lot when periods are late; this causes the period to be very heavy. Brown blood generally is older blood - blood that has taken longer to come out. Red blood is fresher and is associated with heavy bleeding usually.
