Itchy rash: What you may be describing is something called "cellulitis", which is an infection of the skin by bacteria. It likely is a result of your recent abrasion. You will need to have a medical provider have a look at this as it may need treatment with oral antibiotics or rx topical antibiotics.

Abrasions can take: Time to heal, and 10 days doesnt sound out of the ordianary. Healing is often accompanied by itching, but at this point it shouldn't hurt much. Could there be a retained foreign body embedded in the wound? Not seeing it, it's possible that it could be infected. If the area around the wound is red, if the redness is expanding, if there's discharge or tenderness, or if u are concerned, see ur dr.

No: Antibiotics are not commonly needed for abrasions unless they are very deep and infected. Simple over-the-counter pain relievers (nsaids) and anti-histamines may be enough to fix your symptoms.

Needs to be checked: An abrasion which is more than 10 days old should have healed.F it is painful and not fullu healed, it needs to be evaluated as it may be infected. So if it is painful and itching get it checked by your doctor to see if you need antibiotics.
