Consider it: Consider stress as a potential source for making anything worse. Stress is known to influence physiologic processes, so it would be no surprise that it can make your cramping worse. Try and identify your stressors and if possible, address them to eliminate them. If unable to, consider ways to relieve your stress such as exercise, meditation, or therapy.
