Medications: Absolutely. Your doctor is right. It is safe just to stop. If you cannot stop then perhaps you should consider getting involved with an addiction clinic to safely go through drug detox and treatment to learn about addiction.

Taper: You want to taper off of this medication over a period of two to three weeks. There may be complications if you don't do this.
