Virus?: A virus may cause apthous ulcers and/or stomatits, which is often self-limiting and will resolve in time or faster possibly with tx. Could be bacterial infection also, so if severe, always best to have dr. Properly diagnose you. Good luck.

Broken/sharp teeth ?: Check for sharp or broken teeth/restorations in area of sore tongue. Soreness can lead to pain on swallowing and also sore throat symptoms. However, you need to see a dentist or doctor to rule out other causes.
