Not failure per se: But ti can compromise sperm counts and fertility. Usually the non-affected testicle can function normally.

In some cases, yes: Most men have no problems related to a varicocele, and the testicles are normal. However they can be associated with pain, poor sperm count or atrophy (shrinkage/small testicle). Low sperm count can occur, even in cases of one-sided varicocele (85% are on the left).
