Dilating skin vessel: Flushing and hot flashes result from an emotional reaction of the body or allergic reaction releasing hormones (like histamines) that cause dilataion of the small vessels under the skin, which gives the skin a red appearance.

Flushing: many thing: The main causes are hot flashes, hyperthyroidism, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder. Other causes include morphine withdrawal, and menopause. Also in the list are emphysema, a gastric or pancreatic tumor, anaphylaxis, lupus, sotos syndrome, and woodhouse-sakati syndrome. Obviously you need to see your family doctor or a dermatologist to rule out physical causes and if you have a psychiatric cause make an appointment with a psychiatrist and psychologist.
