Do what you must: There are some occasions when you must pump and dump (surgery, med exposure) and times when your volume may be an issue.Moms must do what they need to get by. We encourage you to be exclusively breast milk when possible.

Breast feeding: You can do this but why? It is best to not give the baby any formula for as long as possible unless there is a good reason. The major problem is that supplementation will decrease your supply of breast milk which is the reason many mother consider doing this. The solution to insufficient supply is to increase breast feeding not decrease it. Even today's formula is not as good as breast milk.
