Shingles: What you may be experiencing is something called 'post herpetic neuralgia', which is a condition that can occur after an episode of shingles. It is a nerve pain and generally takes time to get better. Can be days, weeks, months or in rare cases, years. The treatment of choice for nerve related pains is something called neurontin (gabapentin).

See your doctor: I suspect you probably have developed a post herpetic neuralgia. The virus damages the neves in the area and you can have severe pain for months. Usually the acute phase of the rash is like little blisters in clusters. If you still have blisters or are still breaking out you need to be seen soon. There are quite a few medications that may help.
