Is their a time limit on how long a 6 month old baby should take abuterol through a nebulizer?

Albuterol: If your baby needs albuterol frequently, he may need a controller medication to treat his symptoms. It is ok to use albuterol long term, but the frequency needs to be controlled, i suggest you see a pediatric pulmonologist.

Confusing question: A nebulizer is the primary delivery method for this med in a 6 mo and it should be used as needed. It is often given along with budesonide, a steroid membrane stabilizer, until the symptoms subside and the kid can do without. Close followup for any infant on frequent albuterol nebs is needed. I often keep a kid on once daily Budesonide as the symptoms clear to avoid the albuterol.

NEBULIZER TREATMENT: Albuterol is given to reduce airway spasms for asthma/wheezing patients. The treatment is dose dependent not time related. For example, 6 month old may need 1.25 mg in 3 ml solution every 4-6 hours. If with treatment the symptoms don't get better or worsens, needs evaluation by the pediatrician again. S/he may add some other medicine, e.g. Inhaled or oral steroid.
