Wrinkle removal: Laser resurfacing is a way to peel a layer of skin. In doing so, brown spots are removed, reorganization of underlying collagen ocurs, and smoothing of the texture of skin results. Laser resurfacing is generally either ablative (deeper) or minimally ablative (more superficial), the former is more effective on deeper wrinkles but with longer down time.

3500-6000: A good thorough resurfacing should address both deep and superficial aspects of the skin. The general range is 3500-6000 dependent on skill and experience of the practitioner, technology used and geographic location.

Experience of the doctor is the most important criteria in your search. If you call around your area and find that most doctors are charging within a certain range but then there's one doctor who seems dramatically lower in price, I would be very leery as to why there is such a price discrepancy. Laser resurfacing requires a lot of skill and experience to perform well--do not go cheap!

Effective, yes..but: Laser resurfacing can cause lightening and a mottled colored pattern creating light and dark areas and not a smooth colored pattern. This especially true in dark skinned people. Be careful.

Follow instructions: Your doctor will tell you exactly which products you need to use after the procedure and how often to apply them. Avoid picking and touching your face. Do not stare in the mirror and scratch. Avoid alchol, wine, beer, liquor, vit e, fish oil, aspirin, blood thinners, ibuprofen, naprosyn, (naproxen) and steroids since they cause bruising and bleeding. Avoid the sun, outdoors, wear sunblock, & use a hat.
