Ovarian failure. : Menopause is caused by ovarian failure. The ovaries run out of eggs, and therefore are no longer fertile and also cannot produce female hormones. The eggs usually produce estrogen and progesterone. So, once in menopause, a woman's body is in a state of double hormone deficiency...Which causes many short and longterm symptoms. Hot flashes, vaginal dryness, urine leakage, brain fog, insomnia, etc.
