It may: It is more likely that you will lose weight if you substitute non-caloric drinks (eg. Unsweetened tea or lemon water) for a caloric drink (eg. Coke). By themselves, tea and lemon have a diuretic effect (the former more so)--weight lose from these is purely water weight.
