It might be: Numb due to the swelling. There are many reasons for swelling including side effect of medication, venous insufficiency, fracture, tendonopathy etc etc hence i would advise a doctors visit.

Could be...: Could be due to trauma, could be damage to the tendons and ligaments that run on the top of the foot, could be compression of a nerve causing the foot to go numb, etc. Hard to really diagnose without an examination. See a podiatrist.
