Cold sore?: Ulcers or sores can be a cold sore or apthus ulcer. It could be lichens planus, a herpes sore or maybe you even just bite it hard without realizing it. The sad thing is that you really didn't say how long it has been there. Some of these things can linger for many days to a few weeks. Which if you are in pain can feel like an eternity. Go have the sore looked at by your dentist.

Probably best : To be evaluated by a dentist to see what the cause is and treat appropriately since it persists. Hope this helps.

CAREFUL..: If they don't go away, and the site where they are, you must have a pathologist opinion and make a differential diagnosis ruling out cancer!
