Can an abscessed tooth kill me?

Technically yes: It is a rare occasion, but technically yes. But why would you want to find out? If you have an abscess, which really means that there should be visible swelling, fever, etc. And, if that is the case, see your dentist or root canal specialist (endodontist) to take care of it, and don't find out whether an abscess can kill you or not;-).

Abcessed Tooth: It wuold be very , very rare, for an abcessed tooth to cause your demise. I would suggest either a root canal to treat the infection and save your tooth or an extraction to remove it also would get rid of the infection.

Not likely; but....: If you have an abscessed tooth it would best be treated. Infections in the body can create the potential for other problems. There is no benefit to leaving an abscess alone. Please seek treatment if you do indeed have an abscess.

Yes in extreme cases: An abscessed tooth can cause a septicemia if left untreated, or even more an upper tooth can cause meningitis . So the answer is yes, get it taken care of asap
