A member asked:

Can you get a strep infection in the knee?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unusual, but yes : If strep germs have a method of access they can infect the knee joint. This would assume a penetrating injury with a contaminated wound, or a strep infection in the blood ending up in tissues surrounding the knee joint. A deep skin cellulitis might track down to the joint but in 3 decades I have not seen one. Superficial infections of the skin around the knee are more common and could be strep.
