OTC Emetrol is safe: There are many causes of upset tummy in a 5 year old. Thankfully most of these are transient and not dangerous. A good first bet for upset stomach is otc emetrol. Pepto-bismol must be used cautiously because of its Bismuth Subsalicylate base, which is believed to potentially trigger a dangerous reaction called reye syndrome if used with flu or chicken pox. Call your md for other prescription rxs.
