Hyperinflated lungs: It's hard to say yes or no to this question. Hyper inflated lungs is often used to describe chest x-ray finding. If x-ray is taken after a deep inspiration it can give the appearance of hyperinflated lungs.

Ys: Adults and older children can over cooperate in taking deep breath with radiographic appearance of hyerinflation. Clinical findings are more important such as asthma or COPD most examinations of chest are performed looking for consolidations, atelectasis, tumor. Pneumonia, fluid etc.
