Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) safety: Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) is essentially hydrocodone with Acetaminophen (tylenol). Yes, it is safe for long-term use, but the adverse aspect of this is narcotic tolerance, and a need for higher doses. So the safest thing to do is to use this medication for the shortest duration tolerable.

Not recommended: Studies have shown that long term use of narcotics cause more harm than good in the treatment of chronic pain. See your doctor about taking steps to reduce or eliminate its use. Also, Acetaminophen can be toxic to your liver, especially if mixed with alcohol, so avoid drinking if you are taking this medication.
