Not likely: Parents report many, many different symptoms that they attribute to teething. Studies really don't agree on any specifics related to teething. Sleepiness is usually a symptom of illness. It can be earlier than other more specific symptoms of the illness.

Thanks for asking!: The only time teething should truly interrupt a baby's sleep is that acute 24- to 72-hour period before the tip of the tooth cuts through the gum; once it's through, the pain turns off, and you can get sleep patterns back.

No: Sleepiness is not a sign of teething. Usually parents complian that teething makes it more difficult for the child to fall asleep. Excessive sleepiness may be the signs of another illness and should be checked out by your pediatrician.
