Dr. Charles Breaux answered

Specializes in Pediatric Surgery

Usually, < 1 hour: An experienced general surgeon can perform a laparoscopic appendectomy for nonruptured acute appendicitis in 20 to 40 minutes. If the appendicitis is ruptured, the procedure will probably take longer, 45 to 90 minutes. That said, every patient and operation is unique.
