No: 2 ways to treat this. Take a pill every day for years to prevent attacks. Take a dose at the first tingling which preceeds an attack. 1 or 2 doses only, not effective unless taken immediatly at first symptoms. If it is the very first acute infection, the take for 10 days. If you have shingles- a different virus- take for 7 days.
