Pain meds: Neurontin (gabapentin) is a neuropathic membrane stabilizing medicine that works on neuropathic or nerve pain. It has a different mechanism of action from methadone, which is a narcotic. Many people consider Methadone one of or the most dangerous narcotic because it is linked to abnormal heart rhythms and sudden death. It has a black box warning from the fda stating this. Whatever you can do try to reduce it.

No: Neurontin (gabapentin) has its own pain relieving effect on nerves. It may add to pain relief by its own action.
