Could be infection: Just because you don't have insurance does not mean you cannot get healthcare. There are free clinics available. Call your city health department and get directed to either a county health facility or free clinic. Given the length of time is could be a boil or ingrown hair or an abscess (contained infection). Please have it looked at and cared for immediately.
