Anti platelet : Clopidogrel is an anti platelet medication, i.e. Prevents normal platelet function thereby reducing the risk of blood clotting. By doing so, it can reduce the risk of heart attacks. Main adverse effect is increased bleeding risk, which is expected with this type of medication.

Antiplatelet agent : Clopidogrel (plavix) is an anti platelet medication given to patients with coronary or other vascular disease. Platelets are commonly involved in coronary and other acute vascular events. So you could say it is somewhat of a "blood thinner". As far as potential side effects, rarely it can cause a severe rash--if this occurs then your doctor would switch to another antiplatelet medication.
