Hard to test: It is hard to test for a UTI without a urine sample. But your doctor can obtain a urine sample with a small catheter to perform a test. Give them a call.

Uti: Only a small amount of urine is needed for a culture to determine if you have an infection. Sometimes you can be treated without a urine culture, and then give a urine sample after you complete a course of antibiotics, to document that no infection is left. A catheter can also be inserted directly into your bladder to get a sample.
