Some meds originally: The medications we have for gout include some like Colchicine that originally were natural. It is derived from the meadow saffron or autumn crocus plant (colchicum autumnale) and also found in the tubers of the glory lily (gloriosa superba). It can help control gout attacks. The main goal in gout is to keep the uric acid level less than 6 so the urate crystals do not form and Colchicine can't.

A few natural ones: For acute flares, cherry juice and an ice pack are good natural cures. For long term prevention to lower uric acid, vitamin c is good, adding low fat dairy products like skim milk, and becoming vegetarian and alcohol free are good natural options.
