Postpartum Bleeding: After giving birth, vaginally or by cesarean section, it is normal to bleed irregularly for up to 6-8 weeks. You may bleed like a cycle for the first 2 weeks , then the bleeding may taper off. It is not uncommon to start back again several days later. Breastfeeding and starting birth control can alter this pattern. Your normal monthly cycle pattern usually returns in 8 weeks after giving birth.
