Normal: Any rectal stimulation can cause a reflex emptying of the colon. We use rectal stimulation to relieve constipation sometimes. For your situation, maybe warming the suppository a little or cutting it in half (lengthwise) can help decrease the rectal response by decreasing the sensation of having something inserted there. Or you may consider a different medicine (patch or dissolvable tablet form.
