Spastic colitis: This is probably a condition called spastic colitis, otherwise known as irritable bowel syndrome. This is very common. Typical symptoms are loose stools with cramping; often, persons with this have periods of constipation alternating with the loose stools. In spastic colitis, the cramps always stop when you sleep.
