Sulfa Allergy: Sulfa allergy can be a significant problem. If you feel more swollen, have an itch or if you have a fever that was not there prior to the increased Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) dose you must consider this is an allergic reaction.

Tell your PCP: Tell your pcp what you are experiencing. He/she can either reduce the dose or put you on something else. It is hard to say if it is an allergy or too much meds. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) will get rid of itches but not flushing.
