Rehabilitation: This is an interesting question since there is no reason that rehab is needed given in the question. If the question is about joint replacement surgery the duration of recovery is variable depending on the joint involved, recovery from knee replacement is usually harder and longer than hip surgery. The physical condition before surgery and individual motivation affect rehab more than anything.

Be supportive: Physical and especially psychological support is essential. They may help taking some or even all the responsibilities you used to take care of, while you are returning back to normal. They may actually help you taking care of some personal care. They may assist with physical/occupational therapy, massage, administering medications, making appointments, helping with mobility etc.
