A member asked:

8 yr old had eeg after having one seizure and it came back there was abnormalities in the electrodes what does that mean? all other test was normal

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Discuss with doc: The eeg is a complex test that gathers information on the electrical activity of the surface of the brain. The electrodes are spread out over the skull surface and detect activity underneath. Most brain activity presents a consistent pattern of activity, but when an area shows abnormally intense or inconsistent pattern it read out as abnormal. That can correlate with the seizure history.
