Sore throat: Gargling is soothing, but it will not get rid of the sore throat. Most sore throats are due to a virus. These are generally self-limited. Others may be strep related and require antibiotics.

IT CAN HELP A LITTLE: Depending on the reason why the tongue is sore, this can help. Nevertheless other symptoms should be checked. If the irritation lasts more than a week, consult a doctor. Good mouth hygiene will help a lot.
