Jaundice: Elevation of bilirubin can cause yellowing of the whites of the eyes. This could be a sign of liver disease, mono or hemolytic anemia or a condition called gilbert's syndrome.

Mild scarring: There is common yellowing from exposure, dryness, etc, and then there is more severe yellowing from liver disease.

Yellow spots: If not liver induced this is usually environmental if not from liver disease this can be a sign of chronic environmental exposure and irritation. People who live at higher altitudes or closer to the euator have an increased risk, becaust the atmosphere blocks the sun's uv less people who are outside especially on or near bodies of water.
