Dry throat: One of the more common causes of dry throat at nighttime is from mouth breathing. You might not even be aware that you breath through your mouth at night. If you snore, this can sometimes be a clue. There are several devices that can help with keeping your mouth closed. The scratchiness is likely directly secondary to being dry. The mouth really needs to be moist. Stay hydrated, too.
