Growth in thyroid : Usually benign, not cancer if small can be monitored over time with palpation, throid ultrasound if larger or grows over time, fine needle biopsy often recommended follow-up with endocrinologist.

Small hard lump deep within neck for two months. Ultrasound results say "No visible mass. There is shadowing 5 mm calcification in the deep soft tissue of the left posterior neck, seems to correspond to a palpable lump". Feeling scared about this?
What does Ultrasound results mean? There is a 15 x 3 x 3 mm hypoechoic mass with an echogenic center and blood flow in the left neck soft tissues corresponding to the palpable abnormality. This is consistent with a lymph node?
