A member asked:

Is there a difference between cervical mri and neck mri? for detecting mass or scar tissue, which is more useful - ct or mri?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cervical spine MRI: Focuses on the spine and disks of the neck. Mri of the neck is designed to see all the soft tissues as well as the spine and is not as detailed a look at the spine. Mri contrast is often used for neck MRI and less so with cervical spine mri. Mri is usually better than ct looking at/characterizing neck soft tissues (masses, etc.).
