Not usually: Most viral upper respiratory infections are contagious (common cold viruses, flu), and these viral infections may lead to sinusitis. However, typical bacterial rhinosinusitis is not contagious. Unlike with cold viruses, most people will not develop sinusitis even if they are exposed to the bacteria.
