VEIN: It can if has a clot in it or it is a dilated varicose vein.

Maybe: Usually a visible vein behind the knee would not cause any pain unless it was clotted or inflammed(suoperficial phlebitis). If this was the case, it should also be red, warm and tender to touch. A normal vein does not cause symptoms. You should see a vein specialist.
