Usually benign: Probably represent small accumulations of normal iris tissue called brushfield spots. Seen in normal children and down's syndrome. Usually seen in light colored eyes. Lisch nodules are common iris growths - have a gold or tan color and is associated with neurofibromatosis. Other rare causes include infectious diseases such as TB and syphilis, inflammatory diseases like sarcoidosis and tumors.

Need more info: White spots on the iris are rare. Could you possibly be referring to white spots on the conjunctiva? Need to see it to diagnose.
