Severe deficiency: In parathyroid hormone is usually evident within hours, however post operative swelling can cause a temporary decline in parathyroid hormone secretion which can return toward normal over several days. If it's been a month, check w/your doctor for their recommendations.

Parathormone levels are another way of measuring parathyroid function. In patients with removal of glands because of hyperparathyroidism elevations can persist awhile postoperatively.
